WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 41 women's tennis team recorded their first loss to No.34 Georgia Tech today at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Baylor's two points came in singles play as Zuzana Krchnakova downed Kacie Anson at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-2, and Iva Mihaylova won a 10-8 super-tiebreaker third set to win 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (8) over Alison Silverio.
Baylor's Mihaylova and Carolin Korsawe lost to former teammate Dasha Potapova in doubles and Klara Zrustova also fell to the former Lady Bear 6-3,6-2. Baylor's No.92 Zuzana Zemenova fell to Georgia Tech's 18th-ranked Kristi Miller 7-5, 7-6 (6).
Baylor lost at the number 1 and the number 3 doubles spots with the only doubles win coming from Zemenova and Zrustova as they defeated Kelly Anderson and Lyndsay Shosho 8-6. Georgia Tech took the doubles point and 4 singles points to win the match with a final score of 5-2.
The Bears will return to action February 3-6 as they travel to Madison, Wis. for the National Team Indoors.
