WACO, Texas - During the singles prequalifying tournament 13th-seeded Zuzana Cerna won her Sunday round of 16 match in order to advance to the ITA/Riviera All-American's qualifying tournament. Unfortunately, Daniela Covello lost in her round of 16 match but will still see more time on the court during doubles play with partner Carolin Walter.

Cerna defeated Wake Forest's Ana Jermin 6-3, 6-2 while Covello lost to USC's Amanda Fink 0-6, 6-4, 6-2. Fink was ranked second in the USTA's 2005 Under 18 poll.

"The girls have come a long way to California, and I'm really proud of the way we've played. It's nice to see Cerna advance. Although it was a tough loss for Dani, hopefully she can get a lucky loser spot and continue to play," said head coach Joey Scrivano.

At a professional tournament, Zuzana Zemenova traveled to Troy, Alabama, this weekend to compete in the $55 K Troy. She was defeated today by Germany's Tanja Ostertag 6-3, 6-0. Assistant coach Rebekah Rhodes commented on Zemenova's play saying, "It was a tough match. She hasn't been playing much with her arm injury. You can tell she just wasn't comfortable which is understandable."

Back at the All-American tournament, Cerna and Walter have sealed spots to play Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the singles qualifying tournament. Baylor's only participating doubles team of Covello and Walter will play Tuesday in the doubles qualifying tournament. Draws for those rounds will be posted Oct. 3.
