Baylor starting center Will Blaylock (Tyler, Texas) will miss anywhere from three to six weeks after suffering a strained left knee ligament in the first quarter of last Saturday's 16-13 overtime loss at Texas A&M.
A Tulane transfer, Blaylock had started Baylor's first four games at center. He played 236 snaps in four starts, including every offensive play of the Bears' season-opening victory at SMU, and was credited with 15 knockdown blocks.
Senior Glen Oskin (Houston, Texas), who worked at guard over Baylor's first three games, replaced Blaylock for the remainder of the Texas A&M game and is expected to start Saturday at center against 3-1 Iowa State.
The Bears, 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12, return to action in a 1 p.m. contest Saturday against the Cyclones in Ames.
Notes: As it does throughout the regular-season, Baylor took Monday off and the team will return to practice Tuesday at 3:10 p.m. ... Kickoff for Baylor's Oct. 15 home game against Nebraska has been set for 6 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium and there will be no television coverage of the contest ... Junior Shawn Bell (China Spring, Texas), who owns the 11th highest career completion percentage among active NCAA Division I-A quarterbacks and the highest-ever by a Baylor signal caller at 60.2 percent, needs 89 passing yards to become the 17th Bear to throw for 2,000 career yards ... Single-game tickets for Baylor's remaining four home games are on sale through the school's Athletic Ticket Office (1-800-BAYLOR-U).
