Softball Hosts Tournament to Open Fall Season

WACO, Texas -- The Baylor softball team opens the fall season this weekend when the Lady Bears host the Baylor Fall Tournament on Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8, at Getterman Stadium. Baylor opens play at the tournament at 2:00 p.m. on Friday when the Lady Bears face Temple Junior College.
The tournament features five teams from the area: Stephen F. Austin, McLennan County CC, Temple JC, Seminole JC and Oklahoma City. In addition to facing Temple JC at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Baylor will play Stephen F. Austin at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.
The Lady Bears conclude play at the tournament with a trio of games on Saturday, Oct. 8. Baylor will face Seminole JC at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and will close out the tournament with a game against McLennan CC at 5:00 p.m.
All of Baylor's games will be played at Getterman Stadium; however, games involving other teams will also take place at McLennan County CC.
Baylor returns five starters, including NFCA All-America Harmony Schwethelm, from last year's squad that finished 51-14 an advanced to the NCAA Super Regional before falling to No. 2 California in a best of three series.
Following the Baylor tournament, the Lady Bears will continue the fall portion of the schedule when they travel to Spring Klein, Texas, to play in the Ronald McDonald Tournament the weekend of Oct. 14-16.
