Reliant Energy has again donated their entire allotment of 2005-2006 Baylor season basketball, baseball and softball tickets to two local charitable organizations. The Waco chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of America and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas will be the recipients of Reliant's gift this year.
"Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas appreciates the generosity and support of Reliant Energy," said Melanie Chasteen, director of marketing for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. "The `Bigs' and `Littles' paired in our program enjoy Baylor athletics and these tickets will allow them the opportunity to spend a fun day together rooting on their hometown teams!"
As a sponsor and long-term supporter of Baylor Athletics, Reliant receives 10 season tickets each to the men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball games. In total, Reliant will donate over 700 tickets this year to Baylor athletic events for the 2005-2006 season.
Jim Unrau, senior energy marketing manager at Reliant said, "We are pleased to assist the Waco Boys and Girls Club by providing an opportunity for the kids to experience the excitement of Baylor University athletics."
The Boys and Girls Club was built on the principle that every child needs to know that someone cares about them. The Boys and Girls Club of Waco offers local children a safe place to learn and grow - all while having fun. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Founded in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas Mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.
