Men's Golf Finishes Fourth in Hawaii

KANEHOE, H.I.-The Baylor Men's Golf team shot a final round score of 300 at the 6,739-yard, par-72 Kanehoe Klipper G.C. and finished in fourth at the University of Hawaii Fall Invitational. The was the Bears fourth straight Top-5 finish and brings a conclusion to the Fall season for the 23rd ranked Baylor Bears.

Senior Ryan Baca (Rickmond, Texas) fired a one-over-par 73 in the final round of the tournament and finished tied for first with three other players. New Mexico State's Robert Goff then defeated Andrew Scott of San Diego State, Sevng-Su Han of UNLV and Baca to claim the individual championship on the fourth hole of a playoff. The second place finish was Baca's 20th career Top-10 finish. He currently trails only former All-American Jimmy Walker in career Top-10 finishes with 26.

Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) completed play tied for 16th at 221 (76-69-76), while junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) tied for 25th. Freshman Carmine Mediate (Southlake, Texas) fired an 80 in the final round and tied for 34th in only his second career tournament. Sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) also shot an 80 in the final round and tied for 37th, while junior Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) finished the tournament tied for 18th playing as an individual.

New Mexico State claimed the team championship by one shot over 10th ranked UNLV, while 14th ranked San Diego State finished just three shots ahead of the 23rd ranked Baylor squad. The Bears finished the Fall season placing in the Top-5 in all four tournaments, with one victory coming at the Baylor Invitational.

This concludes the Fall season for the Bears but they will return to action Feb. 20-21, when they travel to San Antonio to play in the UTSA Roadrunner Invitational.
