With two out, Tessa Lynam started the rally with her single up the middle. Chelsi Lake then followed with a two-run blast over the left field wall to give the Lady Bears a 2-0 lead.
After UC Riverside scored an unearned run in the top of the second, Kelly Osburn extended the lead back to two in the top of the third when she hit a line drive solo home run over the center field wall to lead off the inning.
Baylor starting pitcher Tessa Lynam helped her own cause in the fifth when she lifted a solo home run over the left field fence to open the inning and give the Lady Bears a 4-1 lead. The shot was the first of the season for Lynam and the third of the game for the Lady Bears, tying the school record.
Kim Wilmoth and April Luce added RBI singles later in the inning as Baylor grabbed a 6-1 lead heading into the sixth.
UC Riverside scored in the top of the sixth to cut the lead to four, however, Baylor responded with six runs in the bottom of the inning to end the game. Luce ended the game with a three-run blast to center field with two outs for her first home run of the year. The blast was the fourth of the game for the Lady Bears, establishing a new school record for home runs in a game.
Wilmoth hit a two-run double and Stephanie Pomes added a run scoring single in the frame as Baylor established a new season high with 15 hits.
Lynam moved to 3-0 on the season as she allowed only one earned run and five hits over six innings of work in the complete game victory.
Lake continued her hot hitting in the second game as she gave the Lady Bears a 1-0 in the first inning against UCSB with her double to right field to score Harmony Schwethelm.
She would later add a two-run home run to left field, her third of the season, in a four run third inning to put the Lady Bears in firm control of the game. Lynam also added a two-run single in the frame as Baylor took a five-run lead into the fourth.
UC Santa Barbara mounted a rally in the top of the fourth as a pair of home runs plated three as the Gauchos cut the lead to 5-3. The Gauchos then cut the lead to one with an unearned run in the sixth, however, Baylor got back the run when Pomes' sacrifice fly to left field scored Wilmoth to make it 6-4.
Lisa Ferguson managed to close out the victory by retiring the side in the seventh for her fifth victory of the season.
