WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 24 women's tennis team will face the No. 62 Florida International Golden Panthers on Friday and the UTA Mavericks on Saturday at the Baylor Tennis Center. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The Bears defeated No.14 Texas Christian University on Tuesday 5-2 continuing their three-match winning streak and tarnishing TCU's perfect season record.
In new rankings released Tuesday, February 22, Baylor made a good showing with two players ranked in singles and a ranked doubles team.
Carolin Walter is the highest ranking Lady Bear at No. 51. Zuzana Zemenova made her debut in the rankings coming in at No. 57.
Baylor's previously ranked No. 9 doubles team of Daniela Covello and Zuzana Cerna are still ranked at No. 29.
Florida International's Paula Zabala is the team's only ranked singles player at No. 77. The Golden Panther's doubles team of Desanka Jovanovic and Egle Petrauskaite hold the No. 38 spot.
University of Texas at Arlington's only ranked player is Freshman Pavla Mesterova who is listed at No. 73
Baylor heads into Friday's match with a 4-2 record. Florida International is 3-2 on the season and UTA is 1-1.
