WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's tennis team advanced from its previous ranking of No. 24 to No. 16, the Bears all-time highest ranking, in the latest team rankings released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The previous all-time highest ranking for the Bears came on Feb. 20, 2002, when they earned a ranking of No. 21.

"It's nice to see that our team's hard work and commitment is paying off and it's showing in the rankings," Baylor Head Coach Joey Scrivano said.

Since the last rankings on February 22, the Bears defeated the previously ranked No. 14 TCU, No. 62 Florida International, and Texas-Arlington extending their winning streak to five straight matches.

The next team and individual national rankings will come out March 8.

Baylor kicks off Big 12 action Thursday, March 3, when they take on No. 38 Nebraska on the road.
