Women's Tennis Opens Big 12 Play With Win

LINCOLN, Neb. - Baylor's women's tennis opened Big 12 Conference action with a 5-2 win over Nebraska on Thursday in Lincoln. The 16th-ranked Bears extended their win streak to six straight matches and are now 7-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
The Bears opened play by winning the doubles point when Zuzana Zemenova and Daniela Covello teamed at the No. 1 spot to defeat Nebraska's Gitte Ostermann and Katie Garcia, 8-4. Zuzana Cerna and Klara Zrustova posted an 8-5 win over their Husker foe, Imke Reimers and Ewelina Skaza.
Zemenova had an impressive win at No. 1 singles. Zemenova, ranked 57th-nationally, easily disposed of 18th-ranked Ostermann, 6-3, 6-1. Covello at No. 3, Zrustova at No. 4 and Zuzana Krchnakova all registered singles wins to claim victory for the Bears.
Baylor's next action is on Wed., March 9 when it plays two matches at the Baylor Tennis Center. The Bears take on the University of Houston at 2 p.m. and will face 61st-ranked SMU at 6 p.m.
