WACO, Texas - Baylor football players and assistant head coach Gerald Carr hosted a football clinic before the 2005 Green and Gold game at Floyd Casey Stadium Saturday. The clinic was free and open to all Cub Club members.
Approximately 20 players divided the children into groups and taught different skills.
Seven stations were set up with two players from each position. The stations included quarterback, running back, wide receiver, offensive line, defensive line, linebacker, and defensive back.
The children practiced throwing the ball, catching passes and performing different drills at each station.
At the conclusion of the event, senior Ryan Jeffrey spoke to the students about working hard and not being afraid to play different positions.
"Be sure to listen to your coaches, because they know what they're talking about. But, most importantly, remember to have fun," Jeffrey said.
Before going into the locker room, wide receiver J Fields led the players and kids in "Sic `Em Bears!". All of the children received an autograph book for the players to sign after the game and a coupon for a free drink during the game.
