AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team completed the third and final round of the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin Tuesday with a third round score of 300 and finished ninth at the 6,906 yard, par-72 Austin Country Club.
Sophomore Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) completed play by shooting an even-par 72 in his final round to finish in a tie for 11th at 222 (75-75-72=222). Sophomore Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) fired a one-under-par 71 in his first round and completed the tournament in a tie for 28th at 226 (71-79-76=226).
Sophomore Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) came back strong to finish in a tie for 50th 232 (82-76-74=232). Freshman Brian Meck (Austin, Texas) finished the tournament in a tie for 57th (75-78-81=234), while sophomore Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas) finished 80th at 245 (83-84-78=245).
Baylor (884) as a team finished ninth with a total of 911 (303-308-300=911). Florida (872) captured the team title by 10 strokes over runner-up Oklahoma State (882). Tulsa (886) finished third, while host Texas (890) finished fourth. SMU (894) rounded out the top-five.
Florida's Richard Treis captured medalist honors after completing the tournament at four-under-par 212. He finished the tournament five strokes ahead of Texas' Shaun Goodwin, who completed play at one-over-par 217.
The Bears will return to action April 16-17 when they travel to Bryan, Texas to compete in the Aggie Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
