On the eve of its first full-pad workout of fall camp, the Baylor football team drilled for nearly two hours in half-pads Thursday afternoon on the Floyd Casey Stadium turf. It marked the Bears' fourth straight day of work on their home field, where they'll play five times this fall.

"The enthusiasm was good and I think the offense made a little step today," said third-year Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "They were better in 9-on-7, pass protection one-on-one was better. That's a good sign to see those o-linemen start to come around and get in a little form.

"So far, things are going well and I've been pleased," he added. "We've made some wrinkle changes and some terminology changes, but overall, especially most of the veteran guys, are pretty comfortable out there."

After two days in half pads the Bears will put on full pads for the first time during fall camp for Friday's 4 p.m. workout.

"We aren't going to do too much full contact, but I think we have to get used to carrying the weight and working with the legs covered since it makes the body get a little hotter," Morriss said. "We just want to get comfortable in what we are going to play in."

Following Friday's practice the Bears will hold the first of four two-a-day work sessions on Saturday with workouts slated for 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. All practices are open to the public.

Notes: Redshirt freshman wide receiver Thomas White (Plano, Texas) injured his hamstring during practice and had to leave the workout early ... The only other injury through four days of fall camp was a knee strain sustained by redshirt freshman linebacker Justin Osinde (Arlington, Texas) on the first day of practice ...True freshman wide receiver David Gettis (Los Angeles, Calif.) remains sidelined while awaiting word on his status from the NCAA Clearinghouse ... Both season and single-game tickets for Baylor's five-game home schedule are on sale through the school's Athletic Ticket Office (1-800-BAYLOR-U) ... Baylor's annual Meet the Bears Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. at Floyd Casey Stadium.
