Cross Country Has Strong Showing at A&M Invite

"I was extremely pleased with the way both teams ran today," head coach Todd Harbour said. "With Bo (Price) and Rob (Morrow) red-shirting, our men's runners really stepped up and performed. I was proud of the way our freshmen adapted to the longer race and they really showed me they are ready for the rest of the year."
Baylor's men's team finished third with a team scoring total of 90. Texas A&M captured the men's team title while 15 points while Stephen F. Austin finished second with 54 points.
Price captured the individual title after crossing the line in 24:22 on the 8,000-meter course. Rob Morrow, who also ran unattached for Baylor, finished second with a time of 24:39.
Jacob Jones was the first Baylor runner to score at the meet as he finished 11th with a time of 25:30. Freshmen Jordan Hiller and Rey Hinojosa were the next Baylor runner as Hiller finished 21st with a time of 26:17 as Hinojosa crossed the line in a time of 26:20.
Freshmen John Wenhold and Mark Smith rounded out the scoring for Baylor as they crossed the line in 25th and 26th-place, respectively.
On the women's side, Baylor easily captured the team title as they finished with a perfect score of 15. Brockman captured the individual title with Erin Bedell second and Lauren Hagans finishing third.
Brockman clocked in with a time of 16:45 on the 5,000-meter course as E. Bedell was close behind, finishing second with a time of 16:57. Hagans finished third for the Bears after crossing the line with a time of 17:21.
"The women's team performed well," Harbour said. "We sent Lauren (Hagans) out with our top two runners and she responded. She stayed with them for the first two miles and had a strong performance."
Lyndsy Bedell and Jessi Barnes rounded out the perfect scoring for Baylor as Bedell finished fourth with a time 17:29 as Barnes followed in fifth with a time of 17:31.
Baylor will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24, when the Bears travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to run in the Roy Griak Invitational.
