WACO, Texas - The ITA released the player selections, including three from Baylor's women's tennis team, for the premiere national tournament taking place October 1-9 hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club in Los Angeles. The first national tournament has been hosted by Riviera since 1988 and highlights the top NCAA Division I players.
On Oct. 4-5 junior Carolin Walter, nationally ranked at No. 29, will play in the qualifying singles as well as in the qualifying doubles with senior partner Daniela Covello; the duo is ranked 26th nationally. Additionally, Covello and No. 122 Zuzana Cerna, a junior, have been selected to play in the prequalifying singles matches on Oct. 1-2 at UCLA.
Baylor's 29th-ranked player Zuzana Zemenova, a sophomore, will not be competing in the ITA All-American due to her participation in the $75 K Albuquerque challenger in New Mexico.
The Bears compete to qualify among the eight players and four doubles teams who advance to the main draw which is scheduled for Oct. 6-9.
