Albuquerque, N.M. - Baylor's Zuzana Zemenova fought triumphantly into the singles qualifiers but she was defeated Tuesday and will not advance to the main draw in the $75K Albuquerque professional tournament.

Though the match ended in a loss for Zemenova, Baylor's netter took Tara Snyder to two sets, 6-2, 6-1. During the first set, the score was two-all add in for Zemenova but unfortunately she double faulted. Assistant coach Rebekah Rhodes attributed some of Snyder's advantage over Zemenova to a mental edge that comes from Snyder's ten years of professional experience. Also, Snyder is the fifth seed in the tournament and was once ranked 33rd in the world.

Rhodes also commented that "this was great learning experience for ZZ, and I think she knows she can physically play with these players."

Zemenova will continue to play on Wednesday with Rhodes since the duo qualified in doubles after two wins Monday against highly ranked opponents. They will play the fourth-seeded team of Katarina Kachlikova and Anastasia Rodionova, a 273rd worldly ranked duo, Wednesday afternoon.

Results and updates will be posted for Zemenova and Rhodes as soon as information becomes available.
