FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Baylor men's golf team shot a first round score of 290 and hold a two shot advantage after day one at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate.

Senior Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas), is leading the way for the Bears after shooting an opening round one-under-par 71. Baca is currently in a tie for sixth, only three shots behind the leader Zach Pederson of Kansas.

Junior Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) opened up with a 71 as well and sits along with Baca in a tie for sixth. Junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) shot a first round 73 and is in a tie for 18th, while sophomore Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.), is in a tie for 30th after opening up with a 75. Junior Chase Thomas fired a 78 in the first round and is currently in a tie for 53rd.

The Bears are holding a two shot advantage over a group of teams that include Virginia, Middle Tennessee State, Belmont and Kansas.

Kansas' Zach Pederson shot a first round score of 68 and has a two shot advantage over a group of competitors at two-under-par.

The Bears will play the second round tomorrow which will be followed up by a third and final round on Sunday morning.
