WACO, Texas - For this weekend's two matches the Bears travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on Iowa State on Saturday and then to Iowa City, Iowa to play the University of Iowa. Baylor is currently 1-0 on the season after defeating SMU last weekend 6-1 at home.
Against Iowa State Baylor is 9-0 dating back to the first match in 1997 when the Big 12 conference began. Last season the Bears beat Iowa State 7-0. The women's team has only played Iowa once which resulted in a 5-4 loss in 1998.
Baylor is ranked No. 9 in the nation and boasts four individuals in the singles and doubles rankings. Zuzana Cerna topped the singles charts for the Bears at No. 9 while Zuzana Zemenova is ranked No. 17 and Daniela Covello is ranked No. 80. In doubles, Cerna and Klara Zrustova were the only duo from Baylor to earn a spot, No. 31 where they tied with Texas' Kendra Strohm and Mia Marovic.
Iowa looks to be the stronger competitor of the two for this weekend as the Hawkeyes currently sit at No. 44 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released Jan. 10. The only individual ranked for Iowa in singles is Milica Veselinovic, No. 93. Iowa State is not nationally ranked and has no individually ranked players.

The next action for the women's tennis team with be at the USTA/ITA Indoor Team Championships in Madison, Wisc. The Bears will then play at home Feb. 14 when they host UT-Arlington at 5 p.m.
