WACO, Texas - Baylor's equestrian team travels north this weekend to face two Big 12 foes in head-to-head shows. The Bears take on Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., Fri., Oct. 13, and Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., Sat., Oct. 14 at 9:00 a.m. Baylor enters the weekend 1-0 this season in head-to-head shows after an 8-7 win over New Mexico State last Saturday.

English and Western events will be featured in both shows including Equitation over Fences, Equitation on the Flat, Horsemanship, and Reining.

The Bears saw action against the Wildcats in late September at Georgia's Bulldog Invitational where Baylor defeated Kansas State 8-7 in game 5. Baylor's English team bested the Wildcats 4-3 while the Western Bears tied with Kansas State 4-4. The match-up was nearly decided by counting traditional scores as the deciding point that would have evened the score at 8-8 was lost in the Fences rides when Baylor's April Wehle and Kansas State's Whitney Snyder both scored 72 points and tied, therefore forfeiting the point for either team.

Baylor and Oklahoma State will face each other in an official head-to-head show for the first time on Saturday. Previously the English team competed against the Cowgirls at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., last April. Oklahoma State defeated Baylor 706-658 under the traditional scoring system in the consolation's first round. Overall Oklahoma State finished the season as the 2006 Western National Champions.

At IHSA shows, the Bears once tied Oklahoma State for first place with 37 points at the Texas A&M English IHSA show in November 2005. Nicole Brown and Susie Foster tied with Cowgirl Michelle Woolschlager as the show's high-point riders.
