Men's Tennis Fares Well in Regional

FORT WORTH, Texas - Four of five of Baylor's men's tennis players advanced to the singles round of 32 in the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's South Central Championships on Saturday.
The singles finalists and doubles champion from this event, hosted by TCU, will earn spots in the November 2-5 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by The Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
Junior Lars Poerschke, the tournament's No. 1 seed, defeated Texas Tech's Michael Brehler 6-3, 6-2 and will now take on TCU's Chris Biro. Sixth-seeded Matt Brown had the easiest time of it on Saturday as he downed TCU's Radu Barbu 6-1, 6-1. Mike Beatty of Texas A&M is his round of 32 opponent. Denes Lukacs, the No. 10 seed, downed Texas A&M's Connor Pollack 6-4,6-2. Dominik Mueller posted a three set win over Cosmin Cotet of TCU, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. Baylor's lone round of 64 loser was sophomore David Galic who dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to Federico Murgier of SMU.
Baylor's two doubles teams enjoyed success as well. Lukacs and Mueller upset top-seeded Pollock and Bryan Wooten of Texas A&M 8-2. They will now face Rook Schellenberg and Josh Zavala of Texas. The BU tandem of Galic and Brown had a tougher time of it, posting a 9-7 triumph over Jorge Delgado and Dusan Tabak of UL-Lafayette. Texas Tech's Greg Jones and James Wilson await them in the round of 16.
