Hello Baylor Fans,
Well I hope you all had a great Homecoming week and I hope you enjoyed the first Homecoming football win in a really long time. If you would look back at my previous "Inside the Huddle" posts, I always said that this team will not quit and that we will always believe. I think this was no more evident then this past Saturday afternoon.
Down 18 points in the 4th quarter, not one person wearing a gold helmet gave up and we all believed. I personally was struggling and then Trent Shelton made another huge catch and the comeback began. Next thing I know, the offensive line is giving me tons of time and receivers are making huge plays. Also, the defense shut Kansas out for the second half and had huge stops late in the game to get us the ball back. It was by far one of the best experiences of my life and a great lesson not only about football, but about life and never giving up. We persevered and kept believing and pulled off a huge win for our team.
The thing I am most excited about is we are 4-4 (3-1 in the Big 12) and haven't even come close to playing our best football. We have to start playing every single play and every single quarter like we did in the final minutes this past Saturday. If we do, the sky is the limit for this team. We still haven't put our best performance on the field on both sides of the ball and hopefully we can execute like we did against Kansas late in the game this Saturday.
We still have a lot to improve on and we have to keep working hard to reach our goal. We have four games left to get two wins to reach our hopes of a bowl game. We feel like we can run the table; but, we have to play like we are capable of, and it all starts this Saturday with the Aggies.
The Texas A&M game has been a great one the last two years and we expect nothing less this Saturday. They are having a great season, but we feel like we are more than capable of coming out with a victory. We have to have a good week of practice and preparation because this is a huge game for us. I don't think we will have any problems getting up for this game because we all look forward to playing the Aggies.
Once again thanks so much for your support. Also, a special thanks to all of you fans who stayed all four quarters and kept believing in our team. That really means so much to us and you do not understand how much your energy in the fourth quarter helped us out. I hope to see you all at the game this Saturday as we take on Texas A & M.
God bless and Sic'em Bears!
Shawn Bell
