WACO, Texas - Baylor women's tennis players will continue their fall tournament schedule this weekend as five Bears travel to two tournaments. Zuzana Cerna and Zuzana Zemenova were invited to the All-American tournament hosted by the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., Oct. 5-8. Iva Mihaylova, Jana Bielikova and Zuzana Chmelarova will play at the Rice Invitational in Houston, Texas, Oct. 6-8.
At the Riviera/ITA All-American, No. 4 Zemenova and No. 14 Cerna will take on a field of nationally ranked opponents. The tournament's main draw includes 22 netters, all of whom are ranked in the ITA's top 90. The nation's top 14 players are all participants and six more top 30 players were also invited.
The main draw begins Oct. 5 after the prequalifying and qualifying rounds have advanced the final players to fill the main draw. The brackets will be announced Wed., Oct. 4, at www.itatennis.com.
Baylor's Bielikova, Chmelarova, and Mihaylova will travel down to Rice for its invitational. Along with the Bears, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Lee College, Prairie View A&M, SMU, Texas Southern, UT-Pan American, and UT-San Antonio also have netters participating.
The Rice Invitational will include four singles draws of 16 and two doubles draws of 16. Play will start Friday and Saturday with doubles at 8:00 a.m. and Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
