Hello Baylor Fans, Well, we all feel a lot better coming off our first back-to-back conference wins in the history of being in the Big 12. Our defense had an amazing performance and continues to shut down our opponent's offense. Offensively, I feel like there were some mistakes that we can improve on; but, Kansas State has a really talented defense as well.
One play that really stands out in my mind was the tremendous effort James Todd showed on the long pass that caused a fumble. James could have easily given up on the play, but instead he gave everything he had, caught the receiver, and made a play that had a huge impact on the game's outcome. I believe it shows the character of this team because although we might have put ourselves in a bind (be it a 1-3 non-conference record or letting our opponent get a big gain on a pass) we are going to give everything we possibly can to overcome. It was not the prettiest win, but a much needed win that really gives us momentum as we head into our second conference game.
We have another very important game this weekend as we head to Colorado. We plan to play this game like it's a one game season just like last week. We aren't going to keep focusing on our win against Kansas State or look forward to our future schedule. Instead, we are going to put all our efforts and focus on one thing; beating Colorado. They are currently 0-5; but, they have tremendous talent and a new coach. We know that we must play well and travel well because Colorado has a good team and a great program. It is going to be exciting because I have never played at their stadium and I hear it is a great atmosphere.
If you attended the game last weekend, I really appreciate your support and hope you continue to do so. The Baylor Line continues to bring amazing support that really means so much to our team and we thank all the freshmen and students who show us so much support. I hope so see some of you in Colorado or at least listening on the radio. We have a great opportunity to take another step toward our goal of making a bowl game.
God Bless and Sic'em Bears! - Shawn Bell
