Recap | Box Score | Notes
Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
On the game:
"I think we struggled early offensively because of nerves, or maybe we were just pressing. But I think we slowed down and got under control. On defense we did a good job keeping us in the game as the offense struggled. Overall, I think we did a great job in the open court. It's always good to get the first win of the season."
On post play:
"I didn't really have a plan. It was more of a feel for the game. Jessika [Bradley] got in foul trouble early and we had to take her out. I wish I could have gotten her more minutes. It also helps that we have a lot of depth at the post position."
On Hofstra:
"We tried to find out as much as we could, but it is hard to get film this early in the season. Plus, they have a brand new coach this season. They had a big win on the road tonight against Wichita State."
Senior Forward Bernice Mosby
On going with a big lineup:
"Thanks to our depth, we were really able to take advantage of our height. Any time you can get three tall girls inside on a small lineup, you have got a distinct advantage."
North Texas Head Coach Tina Slinker
On the game:
"We never did establish an offensive presence. We don't have an answer for not shooting the ball well."
On individual performance:
"Amber Jackson did a great job rebounding, but she's a little bit too small. I think we struggled at the point guard with turnovers. We've got to get some experience at point guard and with our younger players, but I think we can take a lot from this game."
On Baylor:
"I was really impressed with Baylor's freshmen under the basket. I would say that we struggled because our team is young, but so is Baylor's team."
