WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team has signed three players - Jeff Campbell, Cody Paladino and Lorenzo Scotto - to National Letters of Intent to join the Bears for the 2007-08 academic year, head coach Greg Priest announced Monday.
Campbell is a native of Conway, Ark., and recorded a 70.8 stroke average and 12 individual victories during his four-year prep career. He was a three-time all-state and all-conference selection, winning the conference title as a sophomore. Campbell's brother, Scotty, is a junior on the Arkansas golf team.
Paladino is from Kensington, Conn., and is a six-year letterwinner at Kingswood-Oxford Preparatory School, lettering each year since sixth grade and becoming the youngest player to win the CSGA Player of the Year title. He has been named the team MVP three of the last four years and has won six individual titles. He has also played in the last two U.S. Amateur Championships. Paladino's brother, Brent, is a sophomore on the William & Mary golf team.
Scotto is from Pordenone, Italy, and has played with the Italian National Team since he was 14. He has played in numerous Italian Championship events, winning the 2002 Italian Under-14 Championship and advancing to the semifinals or finals in nearly ever tournament. Scotto has played in the European Boys Amateur Championship three times, finishing 11th in 2006 and fourth in 2004 and 2005.
The Bears graduate four seniors this year - Jeremy Alcorn, Jeremy Frye, Chase Thomas and Colton Turnquist.
