WACO, Texas - Women's tennis head coach Joey Scrivano announced his first signed recruit for the 2007-08 recruiting class. Taylor Ormond, from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, committed to Baylor Fri., Nov. 10.

"We are thrilled to have Taylor join our program. She is a tremendous tennis player and we can't wait to begin working with her next fall," said Scrivano.

Ormond currently ranks No. 2 in Ontario and No. 16 in Canada in the under-18 polls.

Ormond is the third Canadian Scrivano has signed for the Bears. Daniela Covello (Thornhill, Ontario) transferred to Baylor in 2004 to join Scrivano's team and played the remainder of her collegiate career for the Bears.

Currently, Jessica Zok, a freshman from London, Ontario, plays for the Bears. Zok completed fall play having advanced to the Doral Desert Classic's semifinal round and the ITA Regional's quarterfinal round. The rookie also claimed the singles consolation title at Baylor's Fall Invitational.
