Weems Named to Wallace Award Watch List

Weems, a 2006 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America selection, hit .297 with eight home runs, 47 RBI, 14 doubles and five triples as a true freshman last season. He started all but one of Baylor's 63 games at shortstop. Weems was one of only five freshmen nationally to start at least 40 games at shortstop and commit 10 or fewer errors.

The Watch List will be trimmed to 12 semifinalists in late May 2007. The selection committee, comprised of coaches, sports information and media relations contacts, former winners and media, will narrow the list ot three finalists following the NCAA Super Regionals.
