When did you start playing your sport?
I was 8 years old when I started riding.

Who has had the greatest impact on your career?
Definitely my parents, especially my mom. She has given me a lot of encouragement and helped me get where I want to go.

What is the best part of being a college athlete?
Being on the team and having all the girls to be friends with and hang out with.

Favorite sport other than your own?
Soccer.

After meeting Coach White, what was you first thought?
I was really excited to come to Baylor because she's really inspiring as a coach.

Do you have a pre-game ritual, if so what is it?
Going over my pattern or jump course and picturing it in my head. Talking to my horse, too.

What is the most unique item in your locker?
My lucky socks. They are pink with polka-dots.

What is the funniest moment from Baylor practice?
Probably Kara falling off a lot of times. We love her for it.

Who are your favorite sports heroes?
One of my favorite riders is Deena Miles who is very small and she rides a huge horse and she has overcome a lot of obstacles in her riding career.

What is the highlight of your sports career?
Last year. Going to our first really big show against Auburn.

What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
Falling off and seeing it on videotape and then watching it eight times in a row because the whole team wanted to watch it.

What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome?
I have had to do a lot of changes in my technique and riding because I have changed from one discipline to another. Just a bunch of little things that have helped with my riding.

What opposing schools do you most look forward to competing against ?
Definitely our rematch against Texas A&M in February. We lost to them, but we are going to beat them next time.

What is one thing Coach White always tells you?
To think positively and picture your ride going really well in your head.

What is your favorite team road trip?
Kansas State/OSU road trip that we took in October.

Who is your biggest fan?
Again, my parents. They're always cheering me on, even if it's a small accomplishment.

Why did you choose to attend Baylor?
First impression meeting Coach White was awesome and the school is just beautiful. It's awesome.

What's the most important thing you've learned as a Baylor athlete?
A lot about teamwork and working together in a sport that has always been an individual sport for most of us.

What single thing will you most miss about Baylor when you leave?
Just the atmosphere and how friendly people are.

Sophia Young

What is one thing you would change about Baylor?
Nothing.

As a role model to young athletes, what advice can you give?
Work your hardest, keep working your hardest. You may not be the best person, but as long as you work hard, you'll definitely reach your goals.

What are three words that describe you?
Optimistic. Outgoing. Friendly.

What song is stuck in your head right now?
Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts.

What is your favorite T.V. show?
House.

Name one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you.
I'm left handed.

Name one thing you can't go a week without.
Chocolate.

What is your dream job?
Work for the FBI.

What's your most valued possession?
My horse.

Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood.

Best non-athletic talent?
Driving.

Favorite musical artist?
Rascal Flatts.

Biggest superstition?
I definitely have to wear my lucky socks.

Biggest fear?
Failure.

Biggest pet-peeve?
Whining.

Least favorite food?
Brussels sprouts.

Worst movie you've seen?
Alexander.

Favorite T-Shirt?
The t-shirt from when Baylor beat A&M two years ago that says "priceless" on it.

Texas A&M.
