Question:
May a booster (representative of Baylor's athletics interests) provide benefits to a prospective student-athlete's coach?
Answer:
No. Boosters MAY NOT provide any benefits (e.g., cash, meals, transportation, etc.) to the coach of a prospective student-athlete (i.e., high school, preparatory school, junior college, AAU).
NCAA rules prohibit boosters from being involved in any recruiting activities that involve prospects or their parents or coaches. Only Baylor coaches and athletics department staff members may be involved in the recruitment process. Boosters MAY NOT contact prospects or their family members by e-mail, letter, telephone, or in-person for the purpose of soliciting their enrollment at Baylor. This prohibition applies to the prospect's coach, as well. Moreover, a booster MAY NOT visit a prospect's educational institution to pick up film or transcripts pertaining to the evaluation of the prospect's academic eligibility or athletics ability.
