1. The expectations for the Baylor softball team are very high going into the season, talk a little bit about some of the things you saw during the fall season that point towards Baylor having a very good year.

In the fall, despite our youth and many newcomers to the program, we picked up on things very quickly. We had am excellent fall. I think anyone who watched us play knows that we still have power in our line-up; but, we welcome back the speed similar to the 2004 and 2005 teams. Our team has good chemistry and it is present on the field. We should be great this year and turn plenty of heads on the national level.

2. After earning NFCA All-America honors last season, talk a little bit about what part of your game you focused on in the off-season. Also, what kind of conditioning programs did you and the team go through during the fall season.

I worked on strength and speed the most during our off-season time. Obviously, speed is not one of my strong points; but, I have made enormous improvements thanks to Brandon (Marcello, speed coach) through his training and guidance. Our team significantly increased in strength during the off-season which will help us hit balls further and run faster. The strength coaches had us do various exercises that focused on quick, explosive power. This transfers into the way we play and makes our game more efficient.

3. As you head into your senior season, talk a little bit about how the program has progressed during your first three years.

I am so blessed to come into this program when I did. I think the single most important factor that has changed is the fact we now all believe in ourselves. As a freshmen, we had to prove it to the nation that we could be a competitive, top 25 caliber team. That team was a building block to form what our team has become now. This year's team has a determination and belief throughout each class. This team should achieve so many great things; but, we have to focus on one day and one game at a time. It is a long way to the Women's College World Series, which is our ultimate goal, but we know that we cannot get there without taking care of business everyday on the field, in the weight room and in the classroom.

4. As a catcher, you have a unique perspective of the entire pitching staff. Take a moment to go through each pitcher on this year's team and talk about their strengths and what they bring to the circle.

This year's pitching staff is great. We have four pitchers that all throw hard but bring something different to the mound.

Lisa (Ferguson) is always reliable. She has excellent movement and control. Being a long time friend of hers, it has been amazing to see her develop into the pitcher she is today. As a senior, I believe Lisa will have an incredible year. Her focus has been great and she is ready to take on the role as the ace the coach's want her to be in.

Ashley (Monceaux) had a great fall. Her pitches have really come along. She has great presence on the mound and is a very intense player. She is a real joy to catch when she is on. Her height is intimidating to batters and it also allows her to do different things with pitches.

Brittany (Turner) is a hard worker and has really come along. She has had some frustrating times; but, I believe she has used it as a tool to help her gain control and composure on the mound. It is no secret that she has an incredible off-speed that allows us to work around hitters and get them off balance. I am proud of Turner and the pitcher she has become, and luckily for Baylor, she will only improve because of her determination.

Kirsten (Shortridge) began a little rocky but will undoubtedly become a stand-out. She is very good about making adjustments while working on her pitches and is a fast learner. She too is a hard worker and very eager to become better. The first month of our season will be great for helping Kirsten see what she has to change in her pitches at this level. She is very gifted and will be able to help our current team and in the years to come.

5. Finally, what are your holiday plans?

My holiday plans include a lot of catching up on sleep, enjoying being with my family and working out. This is a special Christmas break because this will be last time to work out with my Dad as my career at Baylor sadly comes to a close. Our team has been instructed by our coaches to have fun and get ready for a great spring which I plan on doing!
