'B' Association Honors Basketball Legends

While the Bears are working hard on the court, the Baylor "B" Association is working hard to ensure that past Baylor basketball standouts are not forgotten. The Baylor Legend program is a program designed to bring past letterwinners back to Waco to honor and thank them for their athletic accomplishments and contributions. This year the "B" Association will honor six letterwinners at conference home games: Lara Webb Dinkins, LaNita Luckey, Tommy Bowman, Pete Creasey, Carol Reeves Brandenburg, Aundre Branch, and Pat Nunley.

The honor schedule is as follows:

Lara Webb Dinkins was a two-time All-Big 12 selection during her career from 1997-99. Lara led her team to the WNIT in 1998, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team and being named Newcomer of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. Lara ranks in the top ten in several individual categories including; 6th in all-time scoring average with 17.6 points per game, 5th in 3-points made with 87, and 2nd in average assists with 5. Lara is also a member of the Lady Bear's prestigious 1000 point club, scoring 1,002 career points.

LaNita Luckey was a three-time All-Southwest Conference selection during her career from 1988-92. During her junior season, LaNita led her team in an amazing four different categories including scoring average, field goal percentage, steals and rebounds. LaNita ranks in the top ten in several individual categories including; 3rd in field goals made with 695, 4th in double-doubles with 35, and 5th in free throws made with 312. LaNita is also a member of the Lady Bear's prestigious 1000 point club, ranking second in career points with 1,721.

While at Baylor, Tommy Bowman was a two-time All-Southwest Conference player for the Bears during his career from 1968-70, leading his team to 2nd and 3rd place conference finishes in 1969 and 1970. During the 1967-68 season, Tommy led his team to a 15-8 season record and ranked 1st in four individual categories that year including; games played with 123; free throws made with 78; points made with 324; and average points per game with 13.5. He also ranks 7th in career rebounds with 695, and 5th in career double-doubles with 24. In 1992, Tommy was inducted into the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame, and now continues his dedicated service to Baylor as a member of the university's Board of Regents.

During his time at Baylor, Pete Creasey was a 3-year letterwinner in track and field, as well as basketball. In 1939, his athletic performances earned him All-Southwest Conference honors in basketball. During the same year, Pete was vote as an All-American by the NEA. He served as the captain of the basketball team in 1939, and earned All-Southwest Conference honors in track in 1940. Pete lettered for Baylor from 1938-1940 and was inducted to the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.

Carol Reeves Brandenburg played for the Lady Bears from 1977-81. During her junior season, Carol led her team in blocks and field goals attempted, and was a member of the team that is tied with our current Lady Bears for most wins of all-time with 33. Carol ranks in the top ten in several individual categories including; Points Scored, Scoring Average, Field Goals Made, Blocks, and Rebounding Average. Carol is also a member of the Lady Bear's prestigious 1000 point club, ranking 8th in career points with 1, 394.

Pat Nunley played for the Bears from 1978-81. His proficiency in shooting led his team to finish second in the Southwest Conference at end of his senior season. During Pat's sophomore year, he led his team in Field Goals Made with 120 with a 55.3% shooting average. He also ranks in the top ten of several individual categories including Assists with 260, Games Started with 93 and Minutes Per Game averaging 37.1. Pat led his team in Free Throws Made during his junior and senior seasons, making 45 and 37 respectively. His accuracy on the line places him among the elite Baylor Basketball history in Highest Free Throw Percentage during the season ranking 1st with a minimum of 50 attempts at .887
