WACO, Texas - The No. 10 Bears look to extend their three match winning streak when they battle the No. 14 Commodores in Nashville, Tenn., at 10:00 Sunday morning. Baylor is 0-3 against Vanderbilt, losing three straight years starting in 2003, but this year is the first that Baylor is ranked higher when playing the Commodores.
Going into the match, Baylor boasts four ranked players compared to Vanderbilt's one. Junior Zuzana Cerna is the highest player ranked for the Bears at No. 9. Sophomore and defending NCAA singles champion Zuzana Zemenova is No. 17, and senior Daniela Covello is No. 80. Baylor's only doubles team ranked is No. 31 Cerna and partner junior Klara Zrustova.
Vanderbilt's only ranked player is sophomore Taka Bertrand who sits at No. 47.
"We're looking forward to the opportunity to play a top team and continue the momentum streak that we are on right now. It's a great chance for us to build our experience and confidence early in the schedule," said head coach Joey Scrivano.
Baylor's women netters are 6-1 on the season coming off of a solid 5-2 victory at home against UT-Arlington on Tuesday. Against ranked opponents, the Bears are 3-1.
