AUBURN, Ala. - Having competed in tough weather conditions in two out of the three last shows, Baylor's equestrian team hoped to put the cold, wet weather in Auburn out of their minds before competing this afternoon. But the Tigers rode better in the conditions and bested Baylor in all four disciplines. The head-to-head show's final score was 1187-1139.
The Bears slimly lost each discipline, in three cases less than 15 points. The Equitation over Fences event totals were 393-288 and though Baylor lost the event, Nicole Brown earned the discipline's high-rider honor with her 90 point score. In Equitation on the Flat, Cara Wilson tallied the event's highest score with 76 points. Auburn earned 288 total points while Baylor earned only 279.
In the Western events, Baylor lost to the Tigers 310-287 in Horsemanship and 296.5-285 in Reining. Baylor's Ashleigh Brown scored 76 points in her Reining ride and was the events high-point rider.
Today's loss brings Baylor's head-to-head show record to 3-2.
The next equestrian show for the Bears will be Mar. 2-4 in College Station for Texas A&M's Western IHSA show.
