WACO, Texas - Baylor's women's tennis team defeated Arkansas this afternoon at the Baylor Tennis Center. The match was moved up from 1 p.m. to 11 a.m. and singles matches were played first due to possible poor weather later in the afternoon. The Bears' victory improves their spring record to 13-3.
On court two, No. 14 Zuzana Cerna earned the match's first point as she stumped No. 45 Ela Kaluder 6-0, 6-0. Over on court one, No. 13 Zuzana Zemenova struggled to find her rhythm against No. 38 Aurelija Miseviciute who upset Zemenova 6-0, 6-3 to tally the Lady Razorbacks only point. Baylor then quickly went on to seal the overall win with wins on courts six, three, and four, in that order. Zuzana Krchnakova bested Melissa Cornett 6-2, 6-3 while No. 94 Daniela Covello posted a 6-1, 7-6 win over Vlatka Jovanovic. Baylor clinched the match when Klara Zrustova triumphantly rallied after falling behind two games in the first set and three games in the second set. Zrustova defeated Maryoi Franco 6-4, 6-2. The last match of the afternoon between Iva Mihaylova and Karina Ledaja was rain delayed after the second set. Mihaylova lost the first set 0-6, but came back to claim the second set 7-6 and ultimately the tiebreaker 10-5 after the 15 minutes delay. The Bears defeated the Lady Razorbacks 5-1.
The doubles matches were cancelled due to the rainy weather as Baylor already won the overall match.
