The Baylor football team continued spring practice Wednesday with a two-hour workout in helmets and shoulder pads on the Floyd Casey Stadium turf. For the second straight day, heavy rains which swept through Central Texas during the early morning hours forced the Bears to drill on the turf rather than the grass practice fields.
"It was good today on both sides of the ball," said Baylor coach Guy Morriss. "The offense picked it up a little better today, executed better and moved the ball a little bit better than yesterday.
"The defense really got after us hard yesterday. It has kind of been a given and take to this point, he added. "They (the defense) have a good day, then the offense comes back and has a pretty good day. It is coming along."
Wednesday's practice marked the ninth of 15 for the Bears this spring and the fourth time they've drilled on consecutive days.
"We are right on schedule," Morriss said. "We've got most everything in, now it is a matter of polishing and getting better. What I like is the way that the kids are working. They are out here having fun and really enjoying it."
Baylor is slated to complete its third week of spring practice with workouts on Friday and Saturday. The Bears conclude spring drills April 8 with the annual Green & Gold Game at 1 p.m. in Floyd Casey Stadium.
All practices are open to the public.
Notes: Through nine practices, the Bears have reported no major injuries ... Senior DT M.T. Robinson sustained a right knee strain during Saturday's practice and will miss the remainder of spring drills ... Redshirt freshman Jason Lamb (Richardson, Texas) has moved from tight end to defensive end.
