Equestrian Places Sixth in Day Two at Western Show

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - In the second day of showing at Texas A&M's Western IHSA tournament, the Bears placed sixth with 11 points in the N.W. "Dick" Freeman Arena this afternoon. Texas A&M finished the show on top with 38 points while Oklahoma State came in second with 22 points. The Texas A&M equestrian team's western riders came back from a 12-point seasonal deficit to Oklahoma State in their final regular season IHSA show ever to grab the regional championship team title and a berth to their fifth straight IHSA National Championships.
For Baylor, only one rider placed atop her class as compared to the four first-place finishes yesterday. Nicole McCoy placed first in section II of Novice Horsemanship while Kim Crook finished right behind her at second in the same group. Kim Marlowe placed third in section I. In the Open Horsemanship, Brenna Burris earned a fifth-place finish in section I, Kendra Kemp finished fourth in section II, and Ashleigh Brown finished fifth in section III.
Stephanie Thompson rode in the Advanced Horsemanship discipline and ranked fifth in the group.
In Reining, Amanda Esco recorded a second-place finish in section I and Burris placed third in section II.

The next show for Baylor's equestrian team will be in April when they travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Varsity National Championships.
