WACO, Texas - With more free time on their schedule after finishing four weeks of spring ball, Baylor football players Mikail Baker, Trey Bryant, Jordan Hearvey, Antonio Jones, Cordney Smith, and Jeremy Williams volunteered at Robinson Elementary School on Wednesday.
Michelle Chudej, a 3rd grade teacher at Robinson, asked the players to visit with the 3rd graders who met or exceeded their reading goals for the semester as a reward for their effort.
The players played frisbee, basketball, and football with the students. The students who made their marks to participate in today's "play day" looked forward to this day with anticipation and everyone enjoyed interacting with the players.
At the conclusion of the event, the players visited with other students who did not participate in today's play day and encouraged them to stay focused and work hard in school.
Baylor athletes and coaches frequently perform volunteer work in the community in their free time. To request the appearance of a Baylor student-athlete or coach, please contact Ray DeWeese at (254) 710-3073.
