LAWRENCE, Kan. - Tallying the second win of the weekend, Baylor's women's tennis team defeated Kansas this afternoon in Lawrence, Kan. The Bears bested the Jayhawks 6-1 by earning five singles points and the doubles point. Today's win marks the program's 20th-straight conference win dating back to April 2004. Baylor now owns an overall record of 19-3 and a conference mark of 8-0 this spring.

In doubles, Baylor's teams on court one and three earned victories to seal the doubles point for Baylor. The No. 38 duo of Zuzana Cerna and Klara Zrustova defeated Elizaveta Avdeeva and Ksenia Bukina 8-4 on court one while Zuzana Zemenova and Zuzana Krchnakova bested Christine Skoda and Yuliana Svistun 8-6 on court three. Both Baylor pairs also won their matches against Kansas State yesterday. On court two, Baylor's Daniela Covello and Iva Mihaylova unfortunately fell to Lauren Hommell and Edina Horvath 9-7(3).

In singles, Baylor earned victories on five courts. The Bears topped ranked player No. 4 Zemenova defeated Kansas' only ranked player No. 107 Bukina 6-4, 6-4 on court one. Following on court two, No. 11 Cerna posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Avdeeva. Her win extends her personal winning streak to 14 matches dating back to Feb. 27, 2006. No. 104 Covello earned a win on court three with her 7-5, 7-5 (6) score against Skoda. Baylor's No. 101 Zrustova tacked on another point for the Bears when she defeated Hommell 6-2, 7-6(4) on court four. The match on court six earned Baylor's last point as Krchnakova bested Svistun 7-5, 6-2.

The Bears will resume play at home on Wednesday when they host conference rival Texas A&M at 6:00 p.m. in the Baylor Tennis Center. Live scores will be available for the match at www.baylorbears.com.
