ARDMORE, Okla. - The Baylor men's golf team shot a final round of 261 for a 54-hole total of 789 and finished second, four strokes behind Oklahoma State Sunday at The Maxwell at the 6,453-yard, par-70 Dornick Hills Country Club.
Jeremy Alcorn led the way for Baylor, posting a final round total of 68 to finish third with a total of 204, one shot off of a second-place finish.
Chase Thomas also recorded a top ten finish for the Bears as he posted a final round total and finished in a tie for sixth with a score of 207.
Jeremy Frye gave the Bears three top-ten finishers as his round of 70 allowed him to finish in a three-way tie for tenth with a score of 210.
Ryan Baca finished 16th with a total of 212 after a final round of 70 while Carmine Mediate also posted a final round of 70 to finish 22nd with a three round total of 213.
Wes Williams competed as an individual at the event and finished 16th with a total of 212 after a final round of 73.
The Bears have already earned the fifth seed in the NCAA West Regional, which will be held May 18-20 at Tucson National Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. The top 10 teams and three individuals from each of the three regionals advance to the 2006 Men's Golf Championships May 31-June 3 at Crosswater Golf Club at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore.
