Hello Baylor Fans!
I cannot describe to you how excited my teammates and I are for the upcoming football season. We have been working very hard since our win over Oklahoma State last fall to make sure that we do not let any opportunities slip through our hands like we felt we did last year. Off-season began the Sunday after the last game, followed by spring ball, summer workouts and now fall camp.
With numerous changes occurring within the program, I believe this Baylor football team is entering the season better prepared, in the best physical condition and in the best position to be highly successful since I've been in the program. By changes in the program I am not only referring to going to a spread offense, but I also see a change in our own expectation and commitment to give everything we possibly can to let the Big 12 and nation know that Baylor football is a force to be reckoned with. I believe as though this winning attitude has come directly from the leadership of our Coach Morriss. He has instilled in us a certain swagger and mentality that we can compete with any team in the nation.
This has been an amazing summer led by our Strength and Conditioning Coach, "Big" John Williams. Our team has developed chemistry through the hard work we have all put in every day throughout the summer. Our linemen are stronger than they have ever been and our skill players are as talented as they have ever been. Combine all this with being in great shape and all of our hard work will definitely pay off in the fall.
I am very excited about our new offense that has developed through the hiring of Coach Hays. I feel as though this offense fits our strengths and is going to help us put points on the board. I have seen first-hand how hard our offensive linemen have been working and we are expecting great things from them. The offensive skill players spent four days a week throughout the summer going through the ins and outs of the offense and playing 7-on-7 against the defense. I feel confident with our defense in the hands of Coach Bradley and with very talented returning starters. Although we did lose several starters on defense, we have replaced them with very talented guys who can fly to the football.
All in all, I am really looking forward to showing Baylor, the state of Texas and the nation how hard we have been working. I feel as though this is going to be a great year to be a part of such an amazing university and athletic program. When my teammates and I were freshmen, our goal was to turn this program around before we left. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to make history in my final season as a Bear. I want to thank you for your support and want each and every one of you to know that together we can make this season a success. Together we can bring Baylor football back to bowl berths and conference championships.
I hope to see you in Floyd Casey Stadium on Sept. 3.
God Bless and Sic'em Bears!
