ST. ANDREWS BAY, Scotland - The Baylor men's golf team will open the 2006-07 season at the birthplace of golf, heading overseas to compete in the International Collegiate Saturday and Sunday at The Torrence Course.

Baylor will be joined by fellow American universities Texas Tech, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Georgia Southern and defending tournament champion Wake Forest. The University of St. Andrews, University of Sterling and R&A Select round out the field.

Head coach Greg Priest has slotted seniors Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) and Chase Thomas (Dallas, Texas), sophomore Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas), junior Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) and redshirt freshman Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) as his starting lineup for the opener, while senior Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) will be playing individually.

The Bears are coming off their ninth straight NCAA Regional appearance and return all but one letterwinner, First-Team All-American Ryan Baca. Alcorn is one of Baylor's all-time winningest golfers with five career individual victories, one behind Baca for the school's all-time lead.

Allcorn has been playing well this summer, capturing the Collegiate Players Tour Championship three weeks ago. He fired a course-record 64 in the second round of the tournament at Lone Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas. Thomas, Wes Williams and Turnquist have been regulars in Priest's lineup the past two seasons, while Colton Williams is making his first career start.

The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Saturday, followed by 18 holes Sunday. Results will be released as they become available.
