Soccer Battles to 1-1 Tie with Indiana

Baylor got on the board first in the 20th minute when Anna Schuch took a cross from Katie White and blasted it into the back of the empty net to give the Bears the early lead. The goal, the first of the season for the senior, was the 10th of her career, moving her into eighth place on Baylor's all-time list.
The assist by White was the first of her career as she corralled a loose ball and delivered a perfect strike to Schuch, who scored easily.
Baylor had a chance to extend the lead in the 36th minute; however, Tara Lomas' shot was deflected off of the line by an Indiana defender to keep the Hoosier deficit at one goal.
The Bears took a one-goal advantage into the break; however, Indiana managed to tie the game in the 79th minute when Lauren Lamping took a free kick from 35 yards out and sent it into the box. The ball deflected off Taylor Fallon and a Baylor player before Indiana's Christie Kotynski corralled the ball and shot it into the goal to knot the game at one. Fallon and Lamping were awarded assists on the play.
Neither team managed to score the rest of the way; however, as the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.
Baylor goalie Ashley Holder thwarted several Indiana chances throughout as the junior goalie made five saves in the game.
Indiana goalie Stacey Van Boxmeer made one save in net for the Hoosiers.
The Hoosiers out-shot the Bears, 23-8, on the night as Pat Roscovius, Lomas and Schuch led the Bears with two shots each on the night.
Baylor will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 3, when the Bears travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to take on Purdue at 12:00 p.m.
