Dear Baylor Fans;
Let me start off by saying it was great to get a win this past Saturday. We had a short week coming off of the loss against TCU, but I think for the most part we were ready to play and I saw some really good things. I think the defense did a great job creating turnovers and flying around. C.J. Wilson continues to impress everyone with three interceptions on the season and the defense created a total of five turnovers, which is huge for our team.
Because of these turnovers and great special teams, our offense really had great field position the whole night. When we start with great field position, the percentages of scoring go way up. Offensively, I feel like we executed well in the 2nd half, but we have to continue to limit mistakes such as penalties, turnovers, and missed assignments. Trent Shelton broke the school record for consecutive games with a reception and had a great game. He has really become a tremendous threat for our offense and played a great game this past Saturday.
This upcoming Saturday we have a great opportunity as a team. We get to play in the Seattle Seahawks' stadium against the Washington State Cougars. It should be a great atmosphere in an awesome stadium, which is going to be fun to experience.
The Cougars have a great all around team and they had a huge game this past week offensively. I feel as though our team did a great job playing on the road last year with wins at SMU, Army, Iowa State, and close losses at Oklahoma and Texas A&M. I really don't expect a big disadvantage by playing on the road for our team because this is really a veteran ball club.
We must limit mistakes and play up to our potential this week. We haven't played our best game on either sides of the ball yet, so hopefully this Saturday we will execute and come back to Waco 2-1. This is a big game for our team and I hope that if you are not taking the long trip up to Seattle that you will listen to the game on the radio.
Thanks so much for your support!
