DENTON, Texas. - The Baylor cross country team continues the 2006 season as the Bears travel to compete in the University of North Texas Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9. The Baylor men will compete in a 6,400-meter race at 9 a.m. with the women's race scheduled for 3,200-meters to follow at 9:30 a.m.
"We had a great showing this weekend with some people really stepping up," head cross country coach Todd Harbour said. "You don't know for sure what the team is going to be like after a relay, so we're looking forward to this first meet and getting what we can out of it before heading up north."
At the Bear Relays, Baylor's team of Renae Van Whye and Nichole Jones claimed the women's title, finishing the relay in a time of 28.20.9, while Mitch Sanders and Bo Price claimed the men's title with a time of 37.01.46.
The Bears' teams of Lyndsy Bedell and Lauren Hagans and Jacob Jones and Rob Morrow finished second while Rey Hinojosa and John Wenhold finished third for the men.
Baylor will be competing against North Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Christian, University of Texas-Arlington, Central Arkansas, Northwood University and Dallas Baptist this weekend.
Results will be posted on BaylorBears.com as soon as they are available. The Bears return to action Sat., Sept. 23, at the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
