WACO, Texas - The Baylor softball team begins preparation for the 2007 season on Monday, January 15, when the Lady Bears take to the field for the opening of practice at 3:00 p.m.
"We are extremely excited about the start of the 2007 season," head coach Glenn Moore said. "We have a talented and young squad and the start of practice is just the beginning of what we hope is a successful season."
The Lady Bears return eight players, including NFCA All-Americans Brette Reagan and Chelsi Lake, from last year's squad that finished 38-22 on the season and advanced to the NCAA Corvallis Regional final.
In addition to Regan and Lake, Baylor returns NFCA All-Midwest Region selection Lisa Ferguson as well as All-Big 12 Conference selection Ashley Monceaux from last year's team that picked up 12 wins in Big 12 Conference play, the most in school history.
Baylor will open the 2007 season when the Lady Bears host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the Getterman Classic on Friday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m.
