SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Baylor men's golf team shot a final round 297 to drop three spots to fifth place in the final round of the Notre Dame Gridiron Golf Classic on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bears, who finished in second place after the first and second rounds, shot 17-over par as a team in the last round to finish at 30-over par for the tournament.

Michigan State won the team title, finishing the 54-hole tournament at 7-over par. Lamar and Arkansas finished in a tie for second at 21-over par, while Virginia edged Baylor for fourth at 28-over par.

Ryan Brehm of Michigan State won individual medalist honors, shooting 69 in the final round to finish at 5-under par.

Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) led the way for Baylor tying for sixth place overall. He carded an even-par 70 on Tuesday to finish at 3-over par for the tournament.

Cody Paladino (Kennington, Conn.), who started the day at even-par, shot 76 in the third round to finish in a tie for 11th place at 6-over par. Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) shot 77 on Tuesday to finish at 10-over par in a tie for 29th place.

Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) also shot 77 in the final round to tie for 45th overall at 14-over par. Weldon Martin (Houston, Texas) carded 74 on Tuesday, his lowest round of the tournament, to finish at 19-over par in a tie for 52nd.

Jeff Gerlich (Austin, Texas) competed as an individual at the tournament and shot 72 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 25th at 9-over par.

Baylor returns to action October 14-16 at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate in Edmond, Okla.
