LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Lenka Broosova wrapped up play at the ITA Southwest Regional in Lubbock, Texas, with both the individual and doubles title after playing three matches.
In doubles action, Broosova and No. 6 Zuzana Zemenova, currently ranked No. 51 in doubles, reached the championship match after an early 8-3 semifinal victory against Megan Falcon and Staten Spencer of Louisiana State. After a brief recovery period, the two returned to the court where they captured the first doubles title for the Bears this season.
In a tight race to the finish, Broosova and Zemenova edged out Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska of Texas Christian, 9-8 (1).
Broosova's day was only half over; however, as the sophomore took to the court just five minutes after capturing a doubles title to complete against teammate Taylor Ormond for the singles crown.
In straight sets, Broosova earned her second title of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Ormond.
Broosova's individual title is her second of the fall season and the third for a Baylor women's tennis player in five events.
Along with winning the individual and doubles title, Broosova, along with singles finalist Ormond, qualified to compete in the ITA National Indoor event. Broosova and Ormond will join Zemenova in the tournament after Zemenova earned an automatic berth.
The women's tennis team will next be in action as they travel to the ITA National Indoors in Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 1; other members of the team will participate in the Palm Springs Desert Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., beginning on Nov. 2.
