Tennis Advances Two at ITA Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - All-American Zuzana Zemenova and sophomore Lenka Broosova earned first round victories at the Riviera ITA All-American Tennis Championships on Thursday hosted by the Rivera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Zemenova, the nation's No. 6 collegiate women's tennis player, returned to action after withdrawing from the H-E-B Baylor Invitational with a sore shoulder. In straight sets, Zemenova defeated No. 16 Lindsay Burdette of Stanford, 6-4, 6-4.

The 54th ranked Broosova earned her victory against No. 11 Fani Chifchieva of Auburn. Broosova also earned her win in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.

Both athletes will return to action on Friday as Zemenova faces Florida's Diana Srebrovic (No. 16) and Broosova faces Maya Johannson of Georgia Tech, who defeated No. 9 Celia Durkin to advance to the Round of 16..
