Rice (2-2) scored a pair of runs in the second on two hits and a Baylor error. The Owls added solo spots in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings and then added two runs in the top of the ninth. Travis Reagan capped the scoring in the ninth with the Owls' second solo home run of the game; Adam Zornes led off the seventh with a homer to left-center.
Baylor starter Cliff Springston (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
Ben Booker was the only Bear with more than one hit, going 2-for-4 on the night.
The announced attendance of 23,984 was the second-largest attendance in the seven-year history of the Houston College Classic. It was the fourth-largest crowd to ever see a Baylor game and the largest in Baylor history not at the College World Series.
