BAYLOR BATS OFF TO HOT START
Perhaps no team in the country had a more successful start at the plate than Baylor to start off the 2007 season. Among Big 12 Conference teams, Baylor ranks first in every hitting category except for doubles.
At the Getterman Classic, the Lady Bears hit a blistering .422 at the plate, first among Big 12 Conference schools and 124 points higher than Texas Tech, who ranks second in the conference with a .298 average.
The hot start led to Baylor breaking three team hitting records at the Getterman Classic as the Lady Bears set new marks at the tournament with 11 home runs, a .508 on base percentage and a.701 slugging percentage.
BAYLOR SOFTBALL IN THE NATIONAL POLLS
The Baylor softball team is currently ranked No. 16 in the preseason ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll released at the start of the season. In addition, Baylor earned a No. 17 ranking in the preseason USA Today/NFCA Top 25.
Baylor is one of five Big 12 Conference school ranked in the preseason polls as Texas A&M (No. 4, No. 3), Nebraska (No. 19, No. 20), Oklahoma (No. 12, No. 14) and Texas (No. 10, No. 11) join the Lady Bears in the polls.
Tennesse, after opening the year No. 2 in the national polls, has moved to No. 1 in the rankings in both polls.
